How to Choose a Web Designer in Oklahoma

By Devan Kirkland, founder of Final Form · Last updated October 9, 2026

The short answer

Ask seven questions before paying any Oklahoma web designer: who owns the site, what’s included, when it launches, what SEO is done, who hosts it, who does the work, and which live sites they’ve built. A good designer answers all seven in writing. A vague answer to any of them is your warning.

Oklahoma has plenty of freelancers, studios and agencies, and most of them are honest. The problem is that a website is hard to judge until it’s built, so the questions you ask up front do most of the work. Here they are, with the answer you want and the answer that should worry you.

1. Will I own the website and the domain?

Good answer: Yes, and the domain is registered in your name.

Worrying answer: “We handle all that for you.” That often means the domain is in their name and you can’t leave.

2. What exactly is included, and what costs extra?

Good answer: A written list: pages, copy, photos, forms, SEO setup, hosting, revisions.

Worrying answer: A price with no scope. That’s where the surprise invoices come from.

3. When will I see a first draft, and when does it launch?

Good answer: Specific dates that start once you’ve supplied your materials.

Worrying answer: “A few weeks, depending.” Months of silence usually follow.

4. What SEO work is included?

Good answer: Research, page structure, titles, schema, a Google Business Profile, Search Console.

Worrying answer: “It’s SEO-friendly.” That phrase usually means nothing was done.

5. Who hosts it and what does that cost each month?

Good answer: A clear monthly number, or hosting included.

Worrying answer: Hosting that only appears on the invoice after launch.

6. Who actually does the work?

Good answer: A named person you can talk to.

Worrying answer: A salesperson who hands you to someone you never meet.

7. Can I see live sites you built for businesses like mine?

Good answer: Links to real, working client websites you can click.

Worrying answer: Mockups, templates, or sites with no business behind them.

Does the designer need to be in your town?

No. Most of the work happens by phone, video and email, so a designer in Norman can build a site for a business in Tulsa or Lawton without a problem. What matters more is that they understand local search, because that’s how Oklahoma customers find a local business.

How Final Form answers these

We publish our answers so you don’t have to ask: the full scope is on the what’s included page, timing and payment are on the pricing page, every site in our portfolio is a live client website, and the person you talk to is the person who builds it. Based in Norman, Oklahoma.
